Egger Group, a global, family-owned company founded in 1961 in Tyrol, Austria, announced plans to build a wood-based materials plant in Lexington, North Carolina. The announcement was made on July 24, 2017 during an official meeting with company officials and the Governor of North Carolina, Ray Cooper.
According to the company, the project implementation is scheduled to take place in several stages, the first being the construction of a chipboard plant with coating capacities.
The project will create 400 jobs in Lexington over the next six years; construction is expected to start in 2018 with production beginning in 2020.
